Job Specifications: In the middle of the night, when
the moon is high, you sneak into the neighbourhood cemetery, take out your
trusty shovel, and find a newly buried nobleman from whom you can steal.
Bear in mind that the grieving family may have placed a curse on anyone who
would disturb the remains of their beloved, but if you’re not superstitious
- or you’re just too desperate to care - it’s not like the corpse can put up
any protest. If you’re lucky, you’ll find jewellery, fine leather boots, and
the most luxurious attire. If you’re not, you’ll be rewarded with nothing
but a handful of maggots and the fine stench of rotting flesh.
Drawbacks: Aside from the possibility that you won’t find anything
valuable in the grave, if you get caught, you’ll be thrown into a dank
dungeon and fed nothing but water and burnt bread, if they bother to feed
you at all. You may be haunted by spirits who don’t appreciate that you’ve
disturbed their early remains, or attacked by angry family members who’d
throw you into a grave if they had half a chance.
Perks: It’s still safer than the business of highway robbery, where your
victims can actually pull out a dagger and stab you to death.
