Ideal for: illegal immigrants willing to work for
less than a living wage and desperate to get a job with absolutely no
prospects.
Job specifications: Without a visa, you have to accept whatever work you
can just to stay in the United States. That includes working for arrogant
bosses who treat you like a second class citizen and pay you abysmally low,
if they pay you at all. You have no rights, can’t exactly go to the embassy
because you’re not registered as a legal resident, and you’re miles away
from everything and everyone familiar.
Drawbacks: Low pay, long hours, and overbearing bosses - plus, you never
get any days off.
Perks: You still get paid more than what you did as a college history
professor back home.
