Ideal for: Miss Marples or Poirot
Job Specifications: You spend weeks looking for a body, and when you
finally find it, it’s covered in blood and maggots. What do you do? Take out
your gloves, stick your finger deep into the victim’s bowels, and see if you
can measure the date of death by how many maggots you can find per square
inch. Aaah, just another day at the office. Next on the agenda is digging
deep into garbage bins for discarded murder weapons. The fun never ends.
Drawbacks: Your time on field is just part of the picture. Training for
this position requires an almost encyclopaedic knowledge of body
decomposition and how to study the patterns of brain matter splattered on
the floor for any clues on the murderer’s height and location. So if you’re
not handling blood and gore, you’re studying it. Talk about light bedtime
reading.
Perks: Thanks to a popular TV series, everybody thinks you have the
coolest job on the planet.
