Ideal for: soldiers’ wives looking for a way to
fight near their husband without actually having to handle a gun.
Job specifications: The enemy’s at the flanks, and the air is thick with
the smoke and the screams of death. As a military volunteer, your job is to
resupply the soldiers’ stock of gun powder. This means running through the
crossfire to the ammunition room, picking up a heavy keg, running back, and
hoping the bullet doesn’t hit you or the keg in the process.
Drawback: Years of lugging heavy laundry may have prepared you for this
task, but you probably never had to worry about slipping over pools of blood
or human entrails while walking along the clothesline. Assuming you aren’t
killed during combat, don’t expect the chauvinistic army to give you a medal
for your efforts.
Perks: Familiarity with the gun comes in handy when you catch your husband
flirting with the village barmaid.
