Ideal for: aspiring writers with more enthusiasm
than skill
Job Specifications: So you thought this would be a glamorous job? Hobnob
with the celebrities, pose with the models, get loads of beauty products for
free? Well, true, but that’s 20 years down the road, ducky. Right now you’re
stuck with jobs the editors don’t want. Fact checking (which means going
though ten-inch think journals to find out obscure trivia like who the first
Vogue cover model was), making coffee, and going through mindnumbingly numb
tasks like checking manuscripts for typos.
Drawbacks: You don’t get paid much, and whatever you do earn goes to
buying coffee for those long nights before deadlines.
Perks: You get to meet a lot of beautiful people. They just don’t want to
have anything to do with you.
